Drum Day!!!!!
Had an incredible time tracking drums with 25th Hour the other week. Their drummer Tyler was extremely prepared and knew all of his parts! I always will make sure that the bands drummer is on board with any last minute changes or ideas that come before tracking, but during tracking ideas always will pop up.

We tracked at the new Rock Lititz studio located here in Lancaster, PA.

Got Mic'd Up
We used a bunch of microphones for this recording including a new addition to my mic-locker - the Shure Beta56. It is a super interesting microphone that I love using for snare drum. It cancels a tremendous amount of bleed out before the sound even hits the converters.

Tuned Up
Tuning is a HUGE part of the drum sound. Making sure all the pitches of the drums are in tune with each other and themselves is very crucial. I use tools like the Drum Dial to have a reference number in which I can tune the snare drum back to whenever it falls out of pitch, or at the end of tracking a song.
